LSC alumni on tour with New Adventures
The casting for the new tour of Matthew Bourne’s The Car Man has recently been announced, and we are delighted to see three LSC alumni among the cast of the New Adventures company.
Zizi Strallen, most recently seen as Demeter in the London Palladium revival of Cats, takes on the principle role of Lana, previously played by fellow LSC graduate Michela Meazza. Alumnus Alan Vincent returns to the show as Lana’s husband Dino, having originated the role of Luca in 2000 as well as playing the part in the 2007 revival.
Completing the trio of alumni is Freya Field: a former member of the Jazz Dance Company, Freya graduated in 2012 and has since performed internationally with the New Adventures in Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake.
The Car Man UK tour opens at the Churchill Theatre Bromley on 16 April, and continues on tour to venues including the New Wimbledon Theatre, the Lowry Centre in Salford and the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh, before returning to Sadler’s Wells in July. Click here for more information and tickets.
Also continuing on tour, and featuring three LSC alumni, is the New Adventures’ critically-acclaimed production of Edward Scissorhands, which has embarked on the next leg of its national tour after a successful run at Sadler’s Wells over Christmas.
Gareth Charlton and Cindy Ciunfrini are performing as residents of Hope Springs, the fictional suburb setting for the story, while Gavin Persand takes on the featured role of George Monroe, the downtrodden husband of domineering housewife Joyce. Based on the film of the same name created by Tim Burton, Matthew Bourne’s recreation of the fantasy romance premiered in 2005 and in 2007 won the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience. The show has since been toured across the world by members of the New Adventures dance company, and returned to its original venue at Sadler’s Wells as their Christmas production.
Edward Scissorhands is touring until March 2015 at venues including the Birmingham Hippodrome, Mayflower Theatre in Southampton and the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. To find out more information and to book tickets, visit the New Adventures website here.
