Overview

The Foundation Course aims to prepare students successfully for professional training and helps them audition for the major colleges offering mainstream dance and performing arts courses.

There is a focus on core training and technique, the aim of which is to establish a secure foundation upon which a professional future can be built. Mock audition classes and support with application process will help students prepare constructively for the next stage of their training.

This is a 1-year full-time intensive course and can be treated as a diagnostic ‘year out’, post A-level.

Structure

Students will receive classes in classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, drama, singing, body control, safe dance practice and audition preparation. Students will be assessed at various stages during the year and will receive feedback to gain knowledge of their progress.

Entry requirements

Entrance onto this course is by audition only. There are no academic entrance requirements for this course, but if applicants wish to continue onto the BA (Hons) Theatre Dance degree programme applicants will be required to meet the minimum requirements.

All applicants are required to complete an application form and pay the £45 audition fee, this fee covers the processing costs for your entire application.

Applicants for the Foundation Course must be 18 or over before September 1st in the year in which they enrol.
