Overview

The Foundation Course aims to prepare students successfully for professional training and helps them audition for the major colleges offering mainstream dance and performing arts courses.

There is a focus on core training and technique, the aim of which is to establish a secure foundation upon which a professional future can be built. Mock audition classes and support with application process will help students prepare constructively for the next stage of their training.

This is a 1-year full-time intensive course and can be treated as a diagnostic ‘year out’, post A-level.

Entrance onto this course is by audition only. There are no academic entrance requirements for this course, but if applicants wish to continue onto the BA (Hons) Theatre Dance or FdA Professional Dance Performance degree programmes applicants will be required to meet the minimum requirements.

All applicants are required to complete an application form and pay the £45 audition fee, this fee covers the processing costs for your entire application.

Applicants for the Foundation Course would normally be 18 or over before September 1st in the year in which they enrol.

Structure

Structured over 25 contact hours, students receive tuition focused on providing a secure foundation on which to build a successful career. Subjects include: · Classical Ballet · Contemporary Dance · Jazz Dance · Hip Hop · Fitness and Pilates based body conditioning · Singing · Acting The year is designed to prepare students for auditions for LSC and other full-time colleges, assisting with application photos, song and monologue presentation and general audition technique. The year culminates with a course-specific performance.

Applicants for the Foundation Course would normally be 18 or over before September 1st in the year in which they enrol.

Application forms must be received no less than 7 days prior to an audition date. Auditions are subject to availability.

Applications are made directly to London Studio Centre only and not via UCAS. To avoid disappointment, early application is strongly recommended.

Annual Fees

Tuition Fees per annum (Academic Year 2022/23): £9,250 Please note in most cases, Foundation students have to be self-funded.

Additional Costs

In addition to the Tuition Fees advertised above; students may incur additional costs such as dance equipment (including clothing), travel and maintenance.

Optional additional costs include health insurance/cash plan, Spotlight membership, LSC merchandise, discounted offers, open classes, production recordings, IPD equipment, LSC performances (discounted), printing costs, stationery costs, TOTUM membership (formerly NUS), TFL discount card, sheet music, physiotherapy, massage, Library fines, theatre trips, and headshots.
