Identity, community and transformation; these are the themes of Alchemy, the debut tour by Liam Francis Dance Company.

2014 INTOTO Dance Company graduate, Liam Francis, is bringing his passion, skill and experience to a new venture with Liam Francis Dance Company. Their debut production, Alchemy, is a deeply personal double-bill that promises a deep and moving exploration of human connection and development, featuring live electronic music as well as an informative lecture interwoven with the performance.

In the solo ‘Lyre Liar’, Liam traverses his own journey through dance; with excerpts from works by Merce Cunningham, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Kate Prince. With vulnerability and wit, he unpacks the complexities of shifting identities, the toll it takes, and the questions it leaves behind.

The second piece, ‘A Body of Rumours’, is a celebration of music, movement, and brotherhood. Performed by a dynamic trio three young Black men—linked by rhythm, trust, and shared histories— the piece moves through choreography that draws from ballet, hip hop, and contemporary forms. Set to live electronic music by Chloe Mason, ‘A Body of Rumours’ traces a journey from the tensions of isolation, competition and comparison, to the joy of connection and the beauty of bodies moving in harmony.
