The Jazz & Commercial Dance pathway at London Studio Centre equips students with the resilience, technical skills and physical endurance needed to pursue commercial dance as a career in a fast-moving professional landscape. Through your studies, you will gain a deep understanding of the various forms of Jazz, while learning to keep pace with evolving industry trends. Essential skills such as focus, projection, interpretation and style, linked to the ability to absorb and memorise choreography are also developed.
Training also includes examinations of past Jazz Dance icons along with regular workshops given by leading industry professionals from theatre, television and the commercial dance world. This provides students with the vital opportunity of working with potential employers.
Graduates from the Jazz & Commercial Dance pathway have enjoyed successful careers as performers in a wide range of West End productions, music videos and television programs such as Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice, X factor and The Voice. Dance companies that Jazz & Commercial alumni have worked with include Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, ZooNation, BirdGang, Boy Blue as well as various ballet and contemporary dance companies. Some graduates have gone on to work as resident and associate choreographers in productions including Cabaret, Moulin Rouge, TINA: The Tina Turner Musical, Wicked, Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder, Hamilton and more for their West End and UK TOURS, films such as Barbie, Matilda and Wonka as well as pop artists including Kylie Minogue, Little Mix and Gary Barlow to name a few.
