Busk promises to engage audiences with a showcase of exceptional dancers, an emotive story of redemption and hope, and a powerful original score.
When James Bamford – now a 3rd year Ballet pathway student at LSC – founded Project Dance he was just 14 years old. He dreamed of creating original dance productions that were engaging and accessible to newcomers, but of a high enough standard to please enthusiasts. Bamford certainly achieved these objectives with previous productions such as Growing Pains and All That Matters, which garnered positive audience responses as well as coverage on the BBC.

Busk is the first Project Dance production to feature an original score, composed by film and theatre composer Charles Harrison. This new development for Project Dance is particularly exciting for Bamford, who says “To have an original score is a dream come true. Project Dance prides itself on creating new work and so it feels only fitting that our productions are anchored by original music also. As a choreographer, collaborating with Charles has informed and inspired me more than I could have ever imagined. This year, our audiences are going to experience Project Dance like never before, as breathtaking dancers collide with a heart-rending score to tell a story that will resonate with everyone.”
London Studio Centre is highly supportive of students and alumni who are looking to develop and showcase their own work. Reflecting on his time at LSC, Bamford says the following “I am enormously grateful to have had LSC’s support for Project Dance throughout my studies. From in-kind use of studio space, equipment and facilities to introducing me to industry practitioners and venue managers which have led to meaningful relationships, LSC’s open mindedness and belief in my work has allowed me to strive forwards both professionally and in my academic studies. I will never take this for granted.”
