This exciting new partnership will help nurture and develop a new generation of talented, diverse young dancers.

Every young dancer deserves the training and guidance they need to help maximise their potential. At London Studio Centre, we recognise the importance of pre-vocational training in developing a young performer’s talent and setting them on a path that is more likely to lead to a career in performing arts.

To this end, and in addition to other outreach activities, we are delighted to announce a new partnership with Impact Dance.

Who is Impact Dance?

Impact Dance is an award-winning dance company for young people of diverse backgrounds, specialising in Hip-Hop Theatre, Street Dance and Youth Development. Established in 1995 by Hakeem Onibudo, Impact is an art-for-social-change organisation that works to make dance training accessible for all.

Impact offers world-class training with live performance opportunities, as well as mentorship & pastoral support to their dancers.

Why this partnership?

LSC and Impact share the following key values:

  • Demanding excellence from dancers and supporting them to achieve it
  • Providing performance opportunities that offer authentic, professional experience to students
  • Developing the employability of young dancers

These shared values of employability, excellence and opportunity drive both LSC and Impact to set their students on the right path toward performing careers.

Impact Dance founder, Hakeem Onibudo, has always been highly supportive of London Studio Centre and has freely recommended the conservatoire as a vocational option to Impact Dancers. This has resulted in a very impressive collection of Impact & LSC joint alumni, including:

  • Onyemachi Ejimofor
  • Christina Hobbins
  • Liam Francis
  • Angela Hurst
  • Sacha Marshall

By formalising this partnership, LSC and Impact declare a formal recognition of their joint values and a dedication to supporting each other through shared activities and opportunities to enrich the training of their young dancers.

What will this partnership entail?

Impact dancers will benefit from regular classes delivered by London Studio Centre teachers in important genres such as Contemporary Dance and other styles. This compliments the excellent training provided by Impact and creates a solid grounding for moving into vocational training.

Meanwhile, LSC students and alumni will be given opportunities to perform at Impact led events such as their annual outdoor youth dance showcase, RE:DANCE, at The Scoop on London’s Southbank. Similarly, Impact Dance will be offered a performance slot at the annual LSC Associates Showcase.

LSC will also help develop Impact dancers who are identified as Emerging Talent, through individual guidance and audition preparation.

London Studio Centre and Impact Dance both feel that this partnership represents an important step forward in a mutually beneficial relationship. We look forward to seeing how this exciting collaboration broadens the horizons of many young dancers.
